Sushi Attempt #1

sushi

Sushi is my favourite type of food and back home in Vancouver I can get great sushi at good prices, so I’ve been hesitant to try it while in Europe, but it’s been almost two months since I last had sushi so tonight we indulged my cravings and tried a sushi restaurant we found while searching for dinner.  All we can say is, we wish we hadn’t bothered!

After much deliberation (they had the wackiest menu with about 50 different combo dinners and I had a hard time deciding how to order) we ordered the biggest sushi boat on the menu, which had 10 pieces of sushi, a bunch of sashimi, and some maki rolls for 50 euros.  At first it didn’t seem like enough food, but apparently fish is quite filling cuz we had a hard time finishing (there’s only so much fish you can eat!).  We left feeling full, but it’s that sort of completely-unsatisfied-full you get when you force yourself to finish eating something you’re not really enjoying – the sushi and sashimi were equivalent to all-you-can-eat quality back home, and the rolls weren’t very good at all.  We’ll probably give sushi in Europe another try, but definitely not for a while!

We had sushi in Monte Carlo and its was not as bad as I thought and we didn’t get sick so I guess it was worth it! We had 5 rolls and some nigiri sushi and a bottle of rose wine and that cost almost 70 euros I think! Ohh its nice to come back to more affordable and fresher Japanese food! I will make sure you get you’re fill when you’re back!
